Introduction

If you can boil water, you can brew your own beer. It's not just about the brewing, but also about being tidy with your process. Here's an overview of what you'll be doing and some handy tips to get you started.

Boiling Your Beer

  1. Soak malt extract syrup in hot water to ease pouring. Bring 1 1/2 gallons of water to a boil for your wort.
  2. Combine the malt extract with boiling water, then return to heat. Boil for 30 minutes, adding hop pellets towards the end for aroma.

Sanitizing

  1. Sanitize your primary fermenter using a bleach solution and rinse thoroughly. Remember, cleanliness is key!
  2. Prep your fermenter with 3 gallons of cold water and keep it covered.

Cooling and Pitching

  1. Transfer the boiled wort into the fermenter with cold water. Once cooled, add rehydrated yeast.
  2. Seal the fermenter and attach the airlock partially filled with water.

Fermenting

Look for signs of fermentation like bubbling within 24 hours and let the beer ferment for about two weeks at room temperature, away from light and disturbances.

Bottling

  1. Sanitize your bottling equipment and prepare your bottles.
  2. Boil corn sugar for priming, siphon the beer into a bottling bucket, and carefully fill your bottles, capping them at the end.

Aging and Testing

Store the bottled beer in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks before tasting. Enjoy the fruits of your labor and welcome to the world of homebrewing!
